A son of Osun Central, by both blood and purpose.
Born 15 June 1988, the first child of Alhaji and Alhaja Adefila, Ibrahim Adefila is of the Opayaka Compound, Ila-Orangun, on his father's side, and the Olaosun Compound of Osogbo on his mother's, both of royal lineage. His roots run from Ila-Orangun in the north of this district to Osogbo at its centre, from the farming towns of Igbomina to the streets of the state capital. His very bloodline is a bridge across Osun Central.
Born in Ondo and raised across Lagos, Ibadan and Osogbo, he began primary school in Ondo and finished at Jolayemi Nursery and Primary School, Epe, emerging among the top performers in the entire Lagos State Common Entrance Examination. He started at Epe Grammar School and completed his secondary education at Methodist Grammar School, Bodija, Ibadan. That early excellence was no accident. It became a pattern, and the pattern has never broken.
He holds a Bachelor's in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and a second Bachelor's in Information Technology and Business Information Systems from Middlesex University, graduating with First Class Honours. He went on to an MBA from the University of Bolton, a Postgraduate Diploma in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester, and an MSc in Data Science from Middlesex, completed with Distinction. He is today a Doctoral Candidate at Missouri State University, reading for the Doctor of Defense and Strategic Studies.
Professionally, he is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom, a professional member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) in the United States holding the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certifications, and a holder of the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), the gold standard certification of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2). For his impact on cybersecurity and technology, he has been named a recipient of the World CIO 200 Award, which recognizes the world’s top technology leaders.
What that means for Osun Central is simple. Nigeria is writing its future in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital finance and defense strategy, and the Senate has few members who can read those files with expert eyes. Adefila is a chartered accountant who can interrogate a federal budget line by line, a certified security manager who understands the threats to our digital economy, and a scholar of defense and strategic studies. He will not need to be taught what he is voting on.
He is also a builder. He is founder of a few companies spanning technology, travel, agriculture, financial services and education, among them Knowledge Nexus, the largest NBTE-accredited technology and vocational training institution in Osun State, affiliated with universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Canada. He brought the knowledge and technical know-how back with him, not to keep but to give away: built state-of-the-art classrooms in Osogbo, to equip our young people to compete in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and to prepare them for Industry 5.0. He was creating opportunities here long before he asked anyone for a mandate.
A husband and father, and at 38 the proof and the promise of his generation, Adefila offers Osun Central something it has never had. This district has sent lawyers, administrators and party men to the Senate, but never a technologist, a chartered accountant and a global security leader who is also, by birth, a son of both Ila-Orangun and Osogbo. We have waited a long time for a representative like this. He is here, and he is one of us.
